Cats' Garden

Which of the Leonardo da Vinci drawings is your favourite? Artist’s favourite is the study of cats. Leonardo’s drawing plus experience of observing mixed cultures family running its business like a clock, with which Diana was dealing at the end of the spring, inspired her to create ‘Cats’ Garden’ painting.

It is actually quite metaphorical. It depicts family of cats: on the top right there is the mother taking a nap, but observing everyone through semi-closed eyes. Just below her there is a kitten staring to the corner. He is full of making discoveries, but still too attached to the mother. On the top right two teenagers are climbing up to taste the smell of roses. That is their challenge of the day. Down in the ground father of the family drinking water from the copper pot. Water is the symbol of love in many cultures. In the middle of the painting other adult cat is digging into the pot with Cat Mint - her joy of the day. On the down left corner another youngster is watching a spectator. The orange tree above is pointing to the mother. Tree is the symbol of wisdom and family links.

In general, cats are depicted as relaxed, playful or full of joy in all the variety of poses.
